The Department of History & Journalism, Sullamussalam Science College, organized a Local History Writing Workshop on November 1, 2024. The event aimed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to document and preserve local histories, fostering a deeper understanding of their cultural and historical contexts.

The workshop featured an engaging session by Mr. Shebeen Mehaboob, a journalist and PhD scholar from MG University. His presentation covered the fundamentals of local history writing, including methods of research, sourcing oral histories, archival exploration, and the importance of presenting local narratives within a broader historical framework.

A total of 30 selected students from the BA Communication and Media - History programme participated in the workshop. The students actively engaged in interactive discussions and group activities, where they practiced drafting historical narratives based on their write up on their local history.
