Documents are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme and Catalogued according to Anglo American Cataloguing rules II with local modifications. Dictionary catalogue in card form is maintained for authors only. The SSC Central Library has an excellent collection of valuable Books, Journals, Technical magazines, News Papers and no-book materials in Science, humanities, Commerce and management. It maintains separate collections of Reference Books, General books and Bound volumes of journals, Reports, Compact Discs.

With sincere feeling of the great responsibility that has been entrusted upon us, we maximize our effort to uplift the backward, rural and minority community of Malabar in general and of Malappuram district in particular. Understanding the fact that the Gross Enrollment Rate (GER) in higher education is very low in our district.

The library provides IP enabled access to a large number of full text on line journal databases from the various publishers through INFLIBNET provided by the UGC.

Collection

The Library maintains a separate reference collection consisting of encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories, handbooks, technical data, atlases, CD -ROMs. Project Reports and seminar Reports. The question papers of the examinations conducted by the university in previous years and syllabi of courses conducted by this college are also made available in this section. Reference books are marked “R” and Reprography means to produce a fresh copy of the document. Thus reprography means copying and duplication processes for the preparation of one or more copies of document. Reprography has become an indispensable part of information storage and retrieval systems and is an important tool for efficient communication The Library provides photocopying facilities allowed within the copyright rules. Question papers of previous year university examinations, articles of journals can also be photocopied.

The reading area in the library have been WI-Fi enabled to provide wireless access to the Internet. 5 PC are meant for users to access databases, e-books, e-journals and other e-resources. One printer is for taking printouts from the e-resources.

General Rules

  1. Group discussions, combined studies etc are strictly prohibited inside the library.
  2. Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited inside the library.
  3. The users must enter their details in the gate register.
  4. Books and other personnel belongings should not be taken in to the library. They should be kept into the property counter.
  5. Students can enroll their names in the library on production of identity cards.
  6. Student can borrow two books at a time.
  7. Borrower’s cards are not transferable.
  8. In the case of the loss of the borrower’s cards, matter should immediately be reported to the librarian in writing. New borrower’s cards will be issued on paying a fine.
  9. Books issued will not be accepted back on the same day No student should lend either the borrowers ticket or the books they have borrowed from the library to fellow students or outsiders.
  10. The readers should check the book thoroughly for missing pages, chapters, pictures etc., while borrowing the book.
  11. No book in damaged condition will be accepted from the reader.
  12. Mutilated or spoiled books will have to be replaced by the borrower.
  13. Reference books can be taken from the stack for reference after entering in the register which is kept on the reference desk. While leaving the library, books taken for reference should be kept on the reference desk, and the books taken for lending should be given to the issue counter for charging.
  14. Library users are strictly prohibited from taking the borrowed and stamped books again inside the library.
  15. All the books should be returned on the date stamped on the date label affixed on the title page of the book. Absence from college will not be an excuse for not returning the book on time.
  16. The following conditions are to be followed for the renewal of books. The book has to be produced in the library for renewal More than one renewal will not be allowed.
  17. Books and periodicals should be used with care. The members will be responsible for any damages and disfigurations caused to the books borrowed by them.
  18. If a member damages or disfigures a book or periodical, he/she will have To replace it or pay two/ three times of the cost of the article including postage etc with in the time stipulated by the librarian. Incase one book in a set is damaged, the whole set will have to be replaced.
  19. Reference Books, News Papers, Magazines, and Journals should not be taken out. The library timings and details of fine structure are displayed on the library notice board.
  20. Requirement of new books may be intimated to the librarian through the concerned HOD.
  21. The library staff is here to serve you .So do come forward and do not hesitate to ask for any information /material you need.
  22. BOOKS ARE FOR ALL & FOR EVERY BOOK ITS READER . Keep it in mind before using the library.

Strict and absolute silence shall be observed in the library.

And also provides free online journals relating to engineering and other subjects through directory of open access journals (DOJA).

The Library receives 10 PRINTED JOURNALS, TECHNICAL MAGAINES, NEWS PAPERS AND the library provides IP enabled access to a large number of full text on line journal databases from the various publishers through INFLIBNET.
