The Department of Physics, Sullamussalam Science College, Areacode organised  a three day National Seminar on the focal theme 'Physics of the Atom' on 4-6 July 2013. The seminar mainly included fourteen resourceful technical sessions besides the very informative inaugural and valedictory sessions.                  Science and specially Physics is being taught since years   and decades only through chalk and talk. Science education has reduced to transferring some formulae, equations and statements from the teacher’s lecture notes to the student s note books via the blackboard without affecting either of the brains. This process of teaching and learning of science doesn't fascinate the students and hence learning of science becomes only a tool to get a descent-looking jobs

       Department of Physics organized a one day ‘STAR WATCHING CAMP’ on 31st January 2014. Mr. Abdul Gafoor, an expert amateur astronomer and an expert in ancient astronomical instruments was the resource person. He was also a member in ‘Kathif Astronomical Society, Saudi Arabia’ and a member in ‘Science Education Centre and Planetarium, Calicut’. Mr. C.A Safeeque, HOD Physics welcomed the gathering and introduced the aim of the programme. 28 selected students and 6 teachers were the delegates.

International  Year of Crystallography was celebrated by the college on 12 October  2014 with science talks , quiz contest and a open forum Dr. John Jacob (Mar Ivanios College , Trivandrum ) and ,Dr.Mathew Joseph delivered talks on ‘Introduction to Crystallography ‘  and ‘ Impact of Crystallography on Modern Science ‘ during the programme. Based on the focal theme 'Science and Technology for sustainable future' consisted of a popular talk by Dr. Anitha A.B, Dirctor CWRDM Calicut and a video presentation on the topic “life and work of C V Raman” by Miss Janna Maryam and Miss Mirza Anees of BSc physics was conducted on 21 February 2018.

A nurture workshop on 'Introduction to Astronomy' for B.Sc students were conducted on 22 and 23 September 2018 at Sullamussalam science College, Areacode. This workshop was a series of three workshops that have planned to organize during this academic year, as part of initiatives to prepare young generation to be effective participants of the emerging knowledge society and nurture a spirit of Innovation in them. The primary goal of this workshop was to introduce the fundamentals and recent advances in Astronomy.

As an initiative to celebrate the academic achievements our physics alumni and motivate our students to pursue a career in scientific research, Department of Physics & Physics Association organized INTELLECTIONS-2019, a Doctoral Theses Discussions of Physics Alumni on 9 February 2019. Conducted a one-day workshop on the topic ‘Optics – a view from the defence window’ on 10th July 2019. Mr. S. Mohamed Manjoor Shaib Maricar, Addl. General Manager, Opto-Electronics Factory, Ministry of Defence, Dehradun was the resource person and he introduced the different optical techniques used in the defence and applications of laser in the defence.

Department of Physics Sullamussalam Science College conducted a talk on X-ray Diffraction, a powerful tool in material characterization by Dr Sabeena. World space week is on 4th of October to 10th of October. Sullamussalam Science College had a full day programme on the last day of the world space week. We had a space talk led by Dr. Manas Bagchi (Director of regional science centre and planetarium). It was from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. From 11.30 onwards it was an interactive session. The venue was the seminar hall of the college. The programme was inaugurated by the college manager ProfN.V. Abdurahman and C.A Safeeque head of the department of physics presided over the function. The programme was concluded around 12.30 pm.
